The College of the Ozarks in Branson, MO is one of the country’s preeminent Christian faith based schools. According to the College, it is committed to its mission of providing students with a quality, Christian education to those who may not have the financial holdings to allow such an education. Rather than paying tuition, full time students work on campus.
After students have completed the Work Education Program, the College then meets the entire cost of education, allowing them to graduate debt-free. Branson's College of the Ozarks also does not participate in any federal, state, or private loan programs to encourage students to graduate without any educational debt.
The College of the Ozarks was founded in 1906, as the School of the Ozarks. A junior college was started in 1956, with a four-year program started in 1965. It received its current name in 1990.
The College is located at Point Lookout,MO overlooking Lake Taneycomo. The 1,000-acre campus is located 40 miles south of Springfield, near Hollister and Branson. The College employs 83 full-time faculty members, 190 staff members, and offers a student to faculty ratio of 13:1. The College of the Ozarks is also known for its on campus Christian ministries that foster the Christian faith by integrating faith with learning. The ministries help students develop a biblical worldview as well.
Another emphasis of this Branson College is patriotic education. Through campus programs, students are encouraged to gain an “understanding of American heritage, civic responsibility, love of country, and willingness to defend it.” These programs include educational courses, trips to visit historic sites of national importance, and many other activities.
