Fun Fishing in Branson, MO

HomeArea GuideActivitiesFun Fishing in Branson, MO

With 3 large lakes – Lake Taneycomo, Table Rock Lake and Bull Shoals Lake – all 3 of which were created by dams, it’s generally a safe bet to say the fish are always biting somewhere in the area! It doesn’t matter which lake you start in, the water is always clear, cold, and rarely freezes, so you are pretty much guaranteed a good haul, no matter what time of the year it is. And with the beautiful Ozarks as your backdrop, fishing in Branson, MO is a great way to spend a peaceful time rediscovering the joys of solitude; especially when it’s just you, a boat and a pole floating lazily on a Branson lake.

Table Rock Lake

Created by the Table Rock Dam on the White River, this cold water lake offers some of the best fresh water fishing in Branson, MO. Largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, white bass, crappie, walleye, catfish, carp, paddlefish and bluegill all make Table Rock Lake their home, creating a fisherman’s paradise; their overabundance makes Table Rock Lake a perfect spot for quite a few famed bass angling tournaments. With the majestic 350-foot-high Dam that stands tall guarding the cold clear waters, the green of the grass and trees that surround Table Rock Lake, and the sun setting over the blue green waters of one of Branson’s more beautiful lakes, you are the lucky soul who gets to sit there, pole in the water, waiting for that next bite, and marveling over that one moment of fiery beauty that creates a memory that will last you several lifetimes.

Lake Taneycomo

Created by the Power Site Dam, you can fish year round in this gorgeous lake, chock full of a variety of different fish; rainbow and German brown trout, cutthroat trout, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass and bluegill are just some of the fish who claim Lake Taneycomo as their home. Fishing on the #1 trout lake in the entire United States can be a life altering experience if you know the right spots. Lookout Hole, Lilleys’ Landing area, and Monkey Island are a few good spots for dropping a line; but why not think about hiring some Branson fishing guides to really ensure you leave with a good day’s catch? At least for your first couple of trips, after that you can go back to your solitary enjoyment of man vs nature; we are pretty sure you will be coming back time and time again – Branson fishing in the Ozarks, and on Lake Taneycomo, can be pretty addictive!

Bull Shoals Lake

The last of the lakes we will be talking about today, Bull Shoals Lake was also created by the Power Site Dam, and is open year round. Large and breathtakingly beautiful, this lake is a United States Army Corps of Engineers reservoir with very few buildings built near the shore. Because of this, an angler will really feel as if he or she has gotten back to nature; the center of the lake, the natural backdrop of trees, and the wild grasses will surround you. There are a large number of fish species who make their home in this lake: largemouth, spotted and smallmouth bass, walleye, blue, channel, and flathead catfish, rainbow trout, and white bass are examples of sportfish you will find, and you will also occasionally pull in striped and hybrid striped bass and brown trout. The panfish who make their home in Bull Shoals Lake are black and white crappie and bluegill. Rough fish include longnose gar, freshwater drum, redhorse suckers, carpsuckers, hogsuckers, and common carp. As you can see, Bull Shoals Lake is a major hot spot for fishing in Branson. What are you waiting for?
