As of August 12, 2016, Branson’s most exciting new thrill ride has been opened to the public! High-altitude thrills await you on the Runaway Branson Mountain Coaster: a revolutionary new attraction that is not only extremely fun, but also environmentally conscious!

Part of a growing trend that originated in Europe, mountain coasters are beginning to sweep across the United States. These unique and exhilarating rides make efficient and effective use of the surrounding natural environment to create the ultimate rollercoaster. Using carts engineered to the highest safety standard, individuals can control how fast or slow their cart travels with the patented braking system, resulting in a one-of-a-kind rollercoaster experience!

The alpine journey begins with the carts being pulled to the top by chain, just like with a traditional rollercoaster. However, once riders reach the mountaintop, their carts are released from grip—free to fall into gravity’s clutches at either a leisurely pace (with use of the cart’s brakes) or an adrenaline-fueled rush of speed.

Traverse through winding tracks and over the myriad of hills and bumps exclusive to the mountainous region, amidst the stunning scenic beauty of the surrounding Ozarks environment. You can ride with an easy conscience, as these immensely fun coasters are low-profile—meaning they have little to no impact on the environment!

Hours and Pricing

The Runaway Branson Mountain Coaster is open from 10:00am to 7:00pm daily. Exceptions include varying daylight, crowd levels, and weather conditions.

Not only is this ride entertaining and unforgettable, but also cheap! For as little as fifteen dollars for cart drivers, ten dollars for cart passengers, and ten dollars for re-rides on the same day, you and your party can ride the mountain coaster again and again without going over your vacation budget!

My older sister introduced me to rock and roll decades ago.  I played her albums and 8-track tapes (yes, I’m showing my age) and when I got old enough, she took me to my first concert, Summer Jam 1982 at Arrowhead Stadium.  As we aged, music lost it’s hold over our bond and we drifted into more “adult” things like kids and careers. Last weekend, she and I saw Forever Young at The Hughes Brothers Theater and  memories of summers spent at her house listening to John Cougar (back before he was John Cougar Mellancamp), Jackson Browne and Journey came flooding back. The show features a small cast of 5 incredibly talented guys in an intimate backdrop of a basement where they spent their high school years growing up and listening to the music of the day.  The second act deals with each cast members journey after high school and how they all come back together in the end. When they opened with In My Life, one of my absolute favorite Beatles songs, I knew I was in for a treat. The versatile song list ranged from Black Crowes to Michael Jackson, Three Dog Night to Bon Jovi, Billy Joel to David Bowie, and a little bit of everything in between. Both my sister and I were singing along to some of our favorite hits from the good old days. My sister even went on stage (to her utter surprise) to help the guys out during their rendition of Rock the Boat. While it’s not a huge production, this definitely is not your run-of-the-mill Branson show! The small setting and cast made the show easy to become involved in and a part of.  I highly recommend making Forever Young a stop during your next Branson vacation to bring back some musical memories!

Lake Taneycomo, located in Branson, Missouri, the heart of the Ozarks, offers a plethora of exciting and fun things to do while visiting. Created by the formation of the Power Site Dam in 1913, this cold water lake is the hub of all that is fun in the Branson area and got its name by creating one word out of where it is located: Taney County (CO), Missouri (MO). Playing at Lake Taneycomo is our favorite pastime, and as such, we have created this list of fun things to do, in no particular order. Boredom is not going to be an issue when you visit this body of water—enjoy!

Fishing

Stocked with a large selection of bass, both rainbow and trout, Lake Taneycomo attracts world class anglers by the thousands every year. Locals know the secret to catching the delicious trout that make their home in these cold waters, using salmon eggs or angleworms as bait while drifting the flies along the top of the water.

Kayaking

Peaceful and tranquil, the waters of Lake Taneycomo are practically without current when the Table Rock Power Plant isn’t generating power, and are the perfect place for an afternoon of communing with nature as you quietly paddle your rented kayak across its borders.

Cooper Creek Resort and Campground

Summer nights are made better when spent sleeping under the stars, and there is no better place to do this than at Cooper Creek Resort and Campground. Offering full hookups for RV’s and campers, or the opportunity to stay in a charming and rustic cabin, camping in the Ozarks has never been more fun than right here on the shores of Lake Taneycomo.

Branson Landing’s Fountains

Enjoy the musical and colorful water show that performs on the hour, every hour, every day from noon until 10:00 PM Monday through Saturday and noon until 9:00 PM on Sunday. Designed by the same people who created the fountain show at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, this show of geysers and water cannons will appeal to all the members of your party, no matter their age.

Branson Landing’s Shopping

This is the spot to buy everything from apples to zippers! The shops at Branson Landing feature a mix of the normal, the unusual, and maybe even the strange! Souvenirs, books, boutique clothing, and so much more can be yours when you shop in one of the many stores housed at Branson Landing.

Get A Massage at Branson Landing

Vacationing can be a tiring experience, but Orchid Massage, located in Branson Landing on the shores of Lake Taneycomo, offers a chance to get a few minutes to yourself as your aching muscles get to experience a real hands-on treatment!

Farmer’s Market at Branson Landing

The Branson Farmer’s Market features a wide array of local fruits, vegetables, and arts and crafts. Held on Tuesdays at Branson Landing from 3:00 PM to 7:00PM near the Lake Taneycomo Bridge, live entertainment is also provided for your listening pleasure!

Picnicking

Pack up a basket or cooler and enjoy the simpler side of life when you picnic on the shores of Lake Taneycomo. The water is usually too cold to swim in, but wading cools off an overheated body in the hottest months of summer, so after the meal has been consumed, don’t be afraid to dip your toes into the cold lake waters!

Dining

The White River Fish House is a wonderful restaurant that floats on Lake Taneycomo, providing scenic views of the lakes and the Ozark Mountains as it provides tasty dishes of seafood, barbecue, and pasta. There are other restaurants in Branson Landing, but this one is the most unique!

Life can be a bit too serious sometimes and everyone deserves a good laugh, so when vacationing in Branson, why not check out the shows we have listed below? And don’t forget to stick around after the show for a chance to meet and greet your favorite comedian; they appreciate knowing how much you enjoyed their show!

This comedic story teller will make you laugh, and at the same time he is tugging on your heartstrings while playing classical guitar for your listening enjoyment as well! Located at the Starlite Theatre at 3115 West Country Boulevard in Branson.

Jeanne Robertson

This former Miss Carolina considers herself a humorist rather than a comedian, but she will keep you in stitches with stories told from her unique perspective. As are most Branson shows, Jeanne’s is a family friendly experience; her Southern charm appeals to everyone. Appearing daily on Sirius XM Radio’s Laugh USA, her talent has no limits! Located at the Andy Williams Moon River Theater at 2500 West 76 Country Boulevard in Branson.

If you’re going to be in town between August 7th and August 13th, there are a few special events you might want to check out! Some of these are recurring, some are in town for just a day, but unless you visit more frequently than once a month, you’ll miss out if you don’t see them now!

Bret Michaels in Concert

You might have heard of Bret Michaels—he’s been involved in producing, directing, screenwriting, and acting, but is most famous for his singing and songwriting. Keeping music close to his heart since he started in Poison in 1983, he’s got years of experience and knows how to work a crowd. Playing at Welk Resorts, it’s sure to be a fantastic show!

Moonlight Madness at Silver Dollar City

You may not have heard of Silver Dollar City, but all of the locals have—it’s Branson’s best theme park, featuring an 1880s flair with rides and live entertainment. Sunday, August 7th is the last day to enjoy its Moonlight Madness event, with extended hours on over 40 rides. Street dancers are making the most of the extended hours with evening performances, and a fireworks show will light up the night after the sun finally sets. Family-friendly nightlife—exciting for everyone!

Moonshine Beach

As of August 2nd, Moonshine Beach is officially open! This popular beach along Table Rock Lake has a short open season, so many families make a point of it to visit at least once. Closing again in mid-September, Moonshine Beach is meanwhile a great spot for swimming, picnics, and boating. The sheer size of the beach is perhaps its biggest attraction—the lake stretches far enough to let visitors feel like they’re at the ocean! It’s as close to beach life as you can get, so come get your summer beach fix!

Academy of Super Heroes and Princesses

Happening only each Thursday in August, this interactive show is basically a combination of little kids’ two favorite things—if your kids are the sort to whine about being far from home, this should change their tune, and will make them thrilled to have come to Branson. The show is for ages 4 through 10 (and their guardians), and includes a box lunch. The show is about a mystery dividing the Academy of Super Heroes and Princesses, and engages the audience with asking for their help and teaching them super hero training and royal etiquette along the way.

Branson Landing’s Summer Concert Series

When the weather is as nice as late-summer Missouri, it becomes the perfect backdrop for some great music. Every evening at 8:00 p.m. from August 2nd to the end of September, Branson Landing will be featuring a live concert. With a rotating cast of musicians, why not check out the Branson Landing website and see which night features the best fit for you?
